Virginia’s men’s basketball program is making a concerted push for one of the most coveted prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.
Moussa Kamissoko, a 6‑foot‑8, 180‑pound small forward from Long Island Lutheran, has drawn the attention of Coach Ryan Odom, who has been in contact with the player since January and formally extended an offer on June 4.
Kamissoko’s combination of length, a natural scoring touch from all three zones, and a high basketball IQ positions him as a potential one‑and‑done talent for the Cavaliers.
A Recruiting Battle in the Making
The competition for his commitment is fierce, with traditional powerhouses such as Alabama, Kentucky, UConn, Syracuse and Louisville also courting the Long Island native.
Recruiting analysts place Virginia among his top considerations, alongside Syracuse and Penn State, but the race is expected to remain tight until the final decision.
If Kamissoko chooses Charlottesville, UVA fans can expect his name to echo through the arena for the next four to six months as the program builds around his versatile skill set.
