Virginia Tech Announces 2026 Men’s Soccer Schedule

A 18‑match slate features home debuts, historic matchups and ACC showdowns

Virginia Tech’s men’s soccer program has released its full 2026 fall competition calendar, a 18‑match lineup that blends home‑field advantage with a rigorous road test.

The schedule was announced on Tuesday, outlining that ten of those contests will be played at Thompson Field, the team’s historic home in Blacksburg, while the remaining eight will be away fixtures across the country.

The season kicks off on Thursday, August 20, with a road test at Ohio State, a program that reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament, giving the Hokies an early benchmark against a fellow tournament participant.

Just three days later, on Sunday, August 23, Virginia Tech will host Howard University for its first home appearance, a matchup that marks the return of the program to Thompson Field after a brief hiatus.

A highlight of the early home stretch arrives on Friday, August 28, when the Hokies will face Kentucky for the first time in Blacksburg, a game that promises a new chapter in the rivalry.

ACC Play Begins

ACC play begins on Saturday, September 5, at North Carolina State, followed by a home game against East Tennessee State on September 9, and a road contest at Virginia on October 2, the Commonwealth Clash that always draws statewide attention.

Later in the month, the Hokies will entertain Longwood on October 6, and close the regular season with three consecutive home matches, including a final non‑conference showdown against Winthrop on October 21.

The schedule also features a series of away games against traditional rivals such as Pitt on October 9 and Furman on October 16, rounding out a demanding stretch that tests depth and resilience.

Coach Mike Brizendine, who has overseen the program’s recent growth, and assistant Dagur Traustason will guide the squad through the demanding calendar, aiming to translate early momentum into a strong postseason push.
