The 2026 MLB Draft will unfold in Philadelphia from July 11 through 12, bringing a refreshed broadcast plan that spreads the action across NBC, Peacock, the MLB Network and a suite of digital platforms.
A legacy of preparation
Virginia Tech has ridden a wave of draft success for 18 straight seasons, consistently delivering multiple selections each year and cementing its reputation as a pipeline for professional talent.
Head coach John Szefc, now in his tenth year at the helm, has guided 30 players into the draft since 2018, with 14 of those picks landing in the first ten rounds, a testament to the program’s depth and development.
Among those prospects, junior right‑hander Brett Renfrow stands out as the most highly regarded candidate for the upcoming draft, currently positioned as the No. 67 prospect by Baseball America, No. 103 by Perfect Game and No. 123 by MLB.com.
Other names surfacing in scouting circles include Henry Cooke, Luke Craytor, Clay Grady and a handful of additional standouts such as Brody Roe, Griffin Stieg, Brendan Yagesh, Madden Clement, Preston Crowl, Pete Daniel and Aiden Robertson, each of whom could shape the next wave of Hokies in the majors.
