Recruiting Momentum
Among the newest faces is Jessica Dimaro, a 6‑foot‑4 forward hailing from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, who arrives after a standout rookie season in the W League where she earned Rookie of the Year honors and posted 12 points, 9.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game.
The coaching staff also secured a high‑profile commitment from combo guard Lillie Graves of Lafayette, Indiana, a top‑100 prospect in the Class of 2027 who will join forces with California native Dani Robinson, the 36th‑ranked player in her class according to ESPN’s Top 100.
Adding to the mix, transfer forward Lauren Hurst, who previously starred at Tennessee, cited the strong relationships she has built with Hokies coaches and players as the decisive factor in choosing Virginia Tech for her final season of eligibility.
Beyond recruitment, the Hokies are slated to compete in the 2026 Emerald Coast Classic in Florida, where they will meet UT Martin in the semifinals on Nov. 23, while the other half of the bracket will see Alcorn State face Michigan State.
Tournament organizers have mapped out a compact schedule: the consolation game will tip off at noon on Nov. 24, followed by the championship at 2:30 p.m., giving fans a full day of mid‑Atlantic basketball action.
Megan Duffy, who oversees recruiting and roster development for the program, believes this blend of domestic and overseas talent will not only boost on‑court performance but also elevate the university’s national profile.
