Final Fall Exhibition Set for Cavaliers
The Virginia women's soccer squad will bring its fall exhibition series to a close on August 8, hosting DC Power FC of the USL's Gainbridge Super League at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville. The match is scheduled for 8 p.m. and forms part of a doubleheader that also features the Cavaliers' men's team.
Admission to the exhibition is free for all fans, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks, turning the event into a community‑focused showcase of the program's growing momentum.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Just four days later, the Cavaliers will open their 2026 campaign at home against Northwestern, kicking off at 7 p.m. on August 12. The team enters the season ranked No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, a testament to the program's recent rise.
Virginia returns 20 players from the 2025 roster, including standout goalkeeper Victoria Safradin and ACC All‑Freshman selections Addison Halpern and Liv Rademaker. The incoming class adds eight newcomers, among them top‑100 recruits Mackenzie Mize and Kyndal Shuler, as well as transfers Gio Canali, Faith Broering and Reese Mattern.
Freshman forward Kyra Koopman has already been highlighted as one of the top ten international players to watch, underscoring the global talent that will bolster the attack. The schedule ahead features 17 contests against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last year, with six of those matches slated for home soil.
The 2025 season culminated with a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a run to the Round of 16, setting high expectations for the new campaign. With a blend of experienced veterans and promising newcomers, the Cavaliers hope to translate their preseason momentum into a deep postseason run.
