VMI Women’s Soccer Announces 2026 Fall Schedule

A rigorous non‑conference slate and conference championship pursuit

VMI’s women’s soccer program received a boost this week as Head Coach Jim Robbins unveiled the 2026 fall schedule, a slate that blends regional rivalries with high‑profile non‑conference fixtures.

A demanding non‑conference slate

The schedule pits the Keydets against a mix of in‑state powerhouses and out‑of‑region opponents, including a marquee clash with Virginia Tech on Aug. 16 and a meeting with the United States Naval Academy, a program that brings both tradition and tactical rigor to the pitch.

The season will open with an exhibition match against Radford on Aug. 9, giving the squad a first chance to gel before the first official test arrives.

From Aug. 27 through Sep. 10 the team will enjoy a stretch of five straight home games, a rare opportunity for the home crowd to back the side as it navigates a packed early calendar.

Conference battle and postseason hopes

Southern Conference play kicks off on Sep. 17 with a showdown against The Citadel, and the campaign culminates with the conference championship from Nov. 5‑8, a tournament that could earn the Keydets a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Robbins emphasized that the schedule is designed not only to test the team’s mettle but also to showcase the program’s growth on a national stage.
