Preseason Honors Set the Stage for the Upcoming Season
The Walter Camp Foundation has revealed its 2026 preseason All‑America first and second teams, a early barometer that signals which programs are poised to dominate the upcoming college football season.
The Southeastern Conference continues to lead the pack, both in the number of schools represented and in the total count of players selected. Texas stands out with five honorees, the most of any single program, while reigning national champion Indiana and Oregon each placed four athletes on the list.
Other traditional powerhouses such as Ohio State, Notre Dame and Georgia each contributed three names, underscoring the depth of talent across the country. Notably, eight of the players recognized this year also earned All‑America honors in 2025, reflecting sustained excellence.
Among the highlighted names are standout performers like Jeremiah Smith, Ahmad Hardy and Leonard Moore, who join a growing roster of prospects that the foundation will spotlight in its upcoming Players to Watch list, scheduled for release on August 17.
The announcement not only celebrates individual achievement but also reinforces the tradition of the Walter Camp Award as one of the sport’s most prestigious recognitions, a measure that has guided college football’s narrative for decades.
