On Tuesday, July 14, the Peabody Warhorses basketball team gathered for a ceremony that marked the distribution of championship rings following their state title win earlier in the year.
Championship Rings Symbolize a Season of Triumph
Coach Charles Smith, who has led the program for several years, told reporters that every new season begins with the same ambition: to capture a state championship.
The 2026 Warhorse squad secured the title with an 82‑61 victory over Northside in March, a win that cemented their place as the most decorated team in school history and marked their 11th championship.
Guard Connor Rosenthal, who was among the players who received the rings, described the moment as a tangible reminder of the hard work and teamwork that defined the campaign.
Community sponsors contributed the funds for the rings, and the presentation was overseen by Baron, a local figure who highlighted the importance of grassroots support for high school athletics.
Beyond the accolade, Coach Smith emphasized that the team aims to serve as positive role models and goodwill ambassadors for the City of Alexandria, using their platform to inspire younger athletes.
Looking ahead, the Warhorses have set a clear target: to become the first Peabody team to repeat as champions next season, a goal that underscores the program’s rising momentum.
