Warren County’s high schools gathered this week for their annual media days, a tradition that blends photo sessions with interviews as coaches and players prepare for the upcoming football season.
Vicksburg High, Warren Central, St. Aloysius, Porter’s Chapel Academy and Tallulah Academy each fielded teams for individual and group photographs, while local reporters captured the excitement on the sidelines.
Preseason Schedule Takes Shape
The Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) will kick off preseason scrimmages next week, with Porter’s Chapel Academy slated to play two jamboree games on August 7, setting the tone for the month ahead.
On August 14, Porter’s Chapel will host Clinton Christian in a scrimmage, while St. Aloysius, under new head coach John Baker, will open its season in Week Zero of MAIS competition, skipping a separate scrimmage to focus on the early matchup.
Later in the month, Vicksburg and Warren Central will meet in preseason games on August 21, with Vicksburg hosting Clinton and Warren Central traveling to Brandon; both programs will open their regular seasons at home on August 28, Vicksburg against Natchez and Warren Central raising its 2025 Class 6A championship banner before facing Clinton.
The Vicksburg Post’s “Playmakers 2026” preview edition, which spotlights all local teams, will hit stands on August 21, giving fans an early look at storylines and key players.
