A Offensive Onslaught
The Snow Canyon Warriors fought back from an opening loss to seize the 4A state baseball championship, closing out a best‑of‑three series with Desert Hills in dramatic fashion.
Game 3 turned into a showcase of power hitting, as the Warriors exploded for six runs in the opening frame and never looked back, ultimately sealing a 15‑5 triumph.
Trey Vaughn, Talan Hansen and Bridger Larsen each launched home runs in that first inning, with Larsen adding a grand slam later and finishing the day with nine RBIs and three homers overall.
Coach Reed Secrist, whose sixth career state title came on the strength of his team’s depth, praised the squad’s ability to score across the lineup, noting that the offense can produce runs at any moment.
The victory also highlighted the team’s consistency, having averaged nearly ten runs per game during the regular season and 13 in the playoffs, a statistic that underscored their preparation.
In Game 2, a six‑run sixth inning forced a decisive third contest; contributors such as PJ Hancock, Diesel Lee, Jagger Mugavero and Vaughn delivered RBI hits, while Larsen’s grand slam and two‑RBI double capped the rally.
On the mound, senior Zac Beck limited Desert Hills to a manageable pace, working 5.2 innings before handing the ball to Cael Esplin, who recorded the final out.
