Warriors Fall 2-0 to Grambling State in Season Opener

ULM Warhawks unable to break through as Dore-Anderson delivers both goals

The ULM Warhawks opened their 2026 soccer campaign with a 2-0 defeat at the Ruston Sports Complex on August 27, falling to Grambling State.

Grambling State struck first in the 20th minute when Nyla Dore-Anderson converted a shot that had already brushed the post, and added a second goal shortly thereafter to cement a 2-0 lead.

The Warhawks generated nine attempts, six of which were on target, but could not beat the opposing defense, which was anchored by ULM goalkeeper Jen Handy, who made four saves and conceded both goals.

Charli Harris also tested the defense with several shots, but none found the net, leaving the Warhawks unable to capitalize on their early pressure.

Looking Ahead to Ole Miss

Despite the loss, the team will travel to face Ole Miss on August 30 at 1 p.m., a road test that could help restore confidence after a 2-2-1 start to the season.

Grambling State entered the match with a 1-1-1 record, while ULM stood at 2-2-1, underscoring the competitive balance of the early schedule.
