A Season of Progress
The Washington baseball team closed the 2026 campaign with a 9‑16 record, marking the most successful season the program has posted since the 2021 campaign that ended at 15‑14. The modest win‑loss tally belies the underlying momentum the squad has built over the summer.
Head coach TJ Rausch described the year as a "huge step forward" for the program, emphasizing that the team has begun to trust its own abilities and each other. "Confidence in ourselves, confidence in our teammates, confidence in our abilities," Rausch said, highlighting the cultural shift that has taken root.
Roster Retention and Key Additions
While the team will miss the power and presence of first baseman and pitcher Ty Wright, the roster retains a core group that includes all‑conference selections Blayze Richardson, Ethan Peebler, Isaac Medrano, and Kyler Williams. Their return provides continuity and a foundation upon which the next season can be built.
The coaching staff believes that the experience gained from the 2026 run, combined with the continuity of the returning players, positions the program to aim higher in 2027. Rausch and his staff are already outlining strategies to translate the newly cultivated confidence into tangible results on the field.
