The Washington Huskies are gearing up for what could be their most consequential season in the Big Ten yet, entering the third year under head coach Jedd Fisch.
A wave of departures reshaped the roster, with seven seniors and key contributors leaving for the NFL draft and the transfer portal, including running back Jonah Coleman and receiver Denzel Boston, as well as Adam Mohammed and defensive tackle Bryce Butler.
Key Departures and Arrivals
In response, the program bolstered its depth through the portal, welcoming defensive linemen Darin Conley and DeSean Watts, cornerback Emmanuel Karnley, and a freshmen class highlighted by left tackle Kodi Greene, defensive linemen Derek Colman‑Brusa, TI Umu‑Cais, Ramzak Fruean, and wide receivers Jordan Clay and Trez Davis.
Defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, who orchestrated a dramatic turnaround in 2025, is expected to keep the unit among the nation’s elite, having finished the previous season ranked No. 12 in rushing defense, No. 15 in scoring defense and No. 21 in total defense.
At quarterback, Demond Williams Jr. will be charged with steering the offense, while the team’s ability to win on the road — particularly in trips to USC, Oregon, Indiana and Penn State — will likely determine its ultimate standing.
Projections from analysts place the Huskies in the eight‑to‑nine‑win range for the 2026 regular season, a realistic target given the blend of experience, new talent and a defense poised to dominate.
