Washington’s men’s basketball team is set to headline a new holiday showcase at Climate Pledge Arena, welcoming Baylor on December 19. The matchup headlines the inaugural Seattle Holiday Classic, a night that will also feature games involving Washington State and Seattle University.
A Holiday Tradition Reimagined
The event marks the second consecutive year the Huskies have staged a game at the downtown arena, a venue that has become a focal point for Seattle’s winter basketball scene. Fans who purchase a single ticket will be admitted to both contests, a perk that organizers say is designed to reward those who want to experience the full evening of play.
The Huskies and Baylor have met three times in program history, with Washington holding a 1‑2 record. A 67‑64 victory in 2019 remains the only win, while the two most recent meetings resulted in 86‑52 and 78‑69 defeats. Those memories add a layer of intrigue to the upcoming clash.
Beyond the Holiday Classic, Washington’s nonconference slate includes trips to Utah on November 14 and a spot in the Maui Invitational, where the team will play its second game on November 24 against either Mississippi or Clemson. The remainder of the schedule, including conference matchups, will be released later.
