Washington Mystics and Monumental Sports Launch Her Colors Uniform Grant for Girls’ Basketball

Program provides customized uniforms and equipment to boost confidence and access for under‑resourced teams

The Washington Mystics, together with the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, have teamed up with the nonprofit Good Sports to launch a new initiative called Her Colors.

The program equips under‑resourced girls' basketball teams with uniforms that reflect each squad’s chosen colors and name, aiming to foster a sense of belonging and pride on the court.

Empowering Confidence Through Apparel

“Comfort and confidence are essential to keeping girls engaged in sport,” said Alycen McAuley, Washington Mystics Chief Business Office, emphasizing the program’s focus on player experience.

Grant recipients can receive up to seven pieces of additional sports equipment over a two‑year period, supplementing the uniforms with gear that supports continued participation.

Good Sports, which has donated more than $131 million in equipment since 2003, views Her Colors as an extension of its mission to level the playing field for young athletes across the country.

By coupling apparel with resources, the partnership hopes to inspire more girls to stay active, pursue leadership on the court, and carry those benefits into other areas of their lives.
