The spring of 2026 will be remembered as a milestone for Wayland Youth Soccer, a program that fielded 28 intramural teams for the youngest players and 29 travel squads spanning grades three through eight.
Among the standout performances, the fifth‑grade girls side known as the Wayland Reign captured the President’s Cup for the second straight year, cementing their place among the league’s elite.
Championship Highlights
The sixth‑grade girls, also identified as the Wayland Reign, advanced to the MTOC semifinal round, while the eighth‑grade boys, branded the Wayland Revolution, secured the Division 1B championship with an impressive 8‑1‑1 record.
Coach Pam Wineman, who guided the Reign through both the fall and spring campaigns, highlighted the squad’s blend of talent, teamwork and resilience, noting how the players repeatedly turned challenges into opportunities.
The Revolution’s offensive output was equally striking, as the team netted 33 goals while conceding only 12 throughout the regular season, a testament to balanced attacking and defensive play.
Looking Ahead
Beyond the trophies, many of the participants have been involved with Wayland Youth Soccer since kindergarten, forging friendships that extend far beyond the pitch and illustrating the program’s role in nurturing long‑term community ties.
The playoff journey concluded with a semifinal defeat to Newton B Juniors, a side that would go on to claim the Division 1 MTOC title, but the experience added another chapter to the teams’ growing narratives.
With a strong foundation built over years of participation, the organization looks forward to continued growth, aiming to provide the same developmental opportunities to the next generation of players.
