Weber State’s football team opened fall camp this week, marking the first official work under head coach Eric Kjar and a roster that has been reshaped with roughly 70 new players.
A New Coaching Vision
Kjar, who previously served as an assistant at the University of Utah, emphasized a toughness mindset and praised associate head coach Tanner Jacobson’s leadership, noting that the staff has already seen a shift in culture since spring camp.
The coaching staff’s focus on the offensive line and interior defensive line reflects a strategic push to shore up the trenches, areas that were porous in the previous 4‑8 season.
Energy and Focus on the Field
Quarterback Devin Brown, who transferred from Ohio State and Cal before landing in Ogden, said he has noticed a different energy among his teammates, describing the atmosphere as more intense and purposeful.
Safety Trevian Tribble echoed that sentiment, stressing that maximum effort and laser focus will be required as the team prepares for its season opener exactly one month after the start of camp.
Brown, now more vocal and confident, has taken on a leadership role that extends beyond the huddle, while Jacobson’s guidance continues to shape the team’s development.
Looking Toward 2026
With the season opener looming on the horizon, the Wildcats are using this camp to build chemistry, instill resilience and lay the groundwork for a campaign that could finally break the program’s recent streak of underperformance.
