Wegmans Food Markets and the Rochester Red Wings have announced a joint initiative that ties financial support to the team’s home victories, channeling resources directly into the city’s youth baseball ecosystem.
For every home win, Wegmans will donate $50 to four local leagues: the Charlotte Youth Athletic Association, Eastside Little League, Rochester Hispanic Youth Baseball League, and Southside Little League. To date, the program has already contributed $650 after 13 wins, providing a tangible boost to equipment, travel and operational costs.
Revitalizing the field
Beyond the monetary donations, the partnership includes a field makeover at the Charlotte Youth Athletic Association’s complex. Representatives from Wegmans, the Red Wings and the City of Rochester collaborated on the renovation, ensuring that the venue meets modern safety and play standards.
Dan Mason, General Manager of the Rochester Red Wings, highlighted the significance of the project, stating that creating a proud space for children to play is a core responsibility of the organization and a cornerstone of community engagement.
Future opportunities for young athletes
During the campaign, the participating leagues will also receive access to the Red Wings Performance Center for training sessions and skill development workshops. This access is intended to bridge the gap between recreational play and competitive baseball, offering mentorship from professional staff.
The initiative underscores a growing trend of corporate‑sports collaborations that prioritize grassroots development. By linking financial incentives to on‑field success, Wegmans and the Red Wings are not only rewarding performance but also investing in the next generation of local talent.
