A Doubleheader to Forget
The West Central Valley Baseball Team traveled to Pleasantville on Saturday, only to see their season slip further after a pair of lopsided defeats.
In the opener, the Wildcats were unable to contain the Trojans' offense, surrendering 17 runs while Miles Sheeler took the mound as the starting pitcher. Sheeler's outing ended with 17 runs allowed, setting the tone for a long night.
The second game offered no relief. Cooper Johnson, who started on the mound for West Central Valley, gave up 19 runs as Pleasantville continued its offensive onslaught.
The twin losses dropped the Wildcats' record to 4‑10, while the Trojans improved to 15‑1, underscoring the disparity in performance between the two squads.
Despite the setbacks, the team remains focused on turning the tide. Their next test arrives on Monday, when they host Ogden at 6 p.m., hoping to spark a comeback.
Looking Ahead
Coach Dan Mullen emphasized the need for better pitch control and tighter defense in the upcoming match. "We have to learn from these games and adjust quickly," he said, noting that the schedule does not afford much time for reflection.
The Wildcats' home field in Stuart, Florida, will provide a familiar backdrop for the Monday night showdown. The town's modest stadium has been a fixture for local baseball fans for decades.
Fans and players alike are hopeful that the next game will mark a turning point. With a chance to reverse the early‑season slump, the team is preparing to lean on its remaining strengths and tighten up the pitching rotation.
