West Chester University’s baseball squad captured the Atlantic Regional championship on Tuesday, defeating Millersville 9‑2 and securing a berth in the Division II College World Series.
The win was anchored by a dominant performance from starter Kyle Lazer, who limited Millersville to just two runs over 7.1 innings while striking out several batters.
A Ninth‑Inning Explosion
The Golden Rams erupted in the top of the ninth, plating six runs to turn a close contest into a comfortable victory. Drew Simpson drove in three runs, and Hunter Smith added a three‑run homer that capped the rally.
Coach Mike LaRosa praised Lazer’s effort and the team’s composure, noting that the depth of the lineup and the bullpen’s reliability made the difference.
Reliever Landen Rozich entered in the eighth and shut down the opposition, earning the win after Rece Ritchey’s loss for Millersville.
The victory marks the sixth regional title in West Chester’s program history, underscoring a legacy of sustained excellence.
Looking Ahead to Cary
Next, the Golden Rams will travel to Cary, North Carolina, to compete in the Division II National Finals, where they will face the nation’s top Division II programs. Fans and alumni are already planning celebrations as the university community eagerly anticipates how far this historic run can go.
