The Cambridge Mayor’s Cup baseball tournament concluded last weekend at Glacken Field, where the West Division achieved a historic sweep of both the Minor and Major division titles.
Minor Cubs Complete Unbeaten Run
The West Division Minor Cubs finished the season without a loss, defeating the Central Division Pirates 23‑2 and the North Cambridge Cubs 8‑1 to secure the Minor championship.
Key contributors such as Coen Dewan, Rex Alexandrov, Memphis Michels and Adam Elsner helped steer the team to victory, while Felix Furman, Rory Chung and Aya Uysal added depth throughout the campaign.
Orioles’ Shutout Secures Major Title
In the Major Division, the West Division Orioles captured the championship with a complete‑game shutout. Dylan Flynn threw 13 strikeouts and paced the pitching staff, while Trip Donohoe delivered an inside‑the‑park home run in the fourth inning.
Nico LaRosa teamed with Donohoe on the mound for the semifinal shutout, and the combined effort highlighted the squad’s depth and discipline.
The North Division Major Cubs reached the final after a 6‑0 win over the East Division Major Cubs, with Kiyan Mehta opening the game with a leadoff home run and pitching five strong innings.
Although the North Division fell short in the championship game, their run underscored the competitive balance across the league and set a promising foundation for future seasons.
