In a tightly contested match, the West side surged to a 3‑1 victory that not only secured the win but also snapped the East’s five‑game unbeaten streak, a milestone that had loomed over the competition all season.
MVP Hernandez Leads the Charge
Southwestern Randolph High School’s Fernando Hernandez emerged as the centerpiece of the triumph, earning the Most Valuable Player honor after netting two goals. His clinical finishing was complemented by a precise assist from Aaron Avina, his Southwestern Randolph teammate, who set up both strikes.
Josue Macias, also from the West squad, added the third goal, while the East managed a solitary reply from Adler Sauer. Between the posts, Watauga goalkeeper Solomon Triplett made a series of crucial saves in the second half, preserving the West’s lead.
Coaches Dwight Findlay of Hoggard High School and Thomas Clark of West Caldwell High School watched from the sidelines as their respective teams displayed tactical discipline, with Clark’s West side executing a balanced attack that proved decisive.
