Morgantown to Host NCAA Baseball Regional
The NCAA announced that West Virginia University will serve as the host site for a regional tournament in Morgantown, West Virginia, beginning this Friday evening.
The Mountaineers, who finished the regular season with a 39‑14 record and a 21‑9 mark in Big 12 play, will open the regional against Binghamton, the America East champion that posted a 31‑20 record.
Both teams earned their spots after the recent NCAA Baseball Selection Show revealed the 64‑team field, and the matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 5 p.m. Eastern.
West Virginia’s journey includes a runner‑up finish in the Big 12 Conference Tournament, where they fell to Kansas, but the team remains focused on advancing to the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
The regional field also includes Kentucky and Wake Forest, each of which will compete in the same bracket, adding depth to the competition.
The University’s baseball program, represented by West Virginia University, Binghamton University, the University of Kentucky and Wake Forest University, brings together a mix of public and private institutions vying for a national title.
Fans watching from home or at Kendrick Family Ballpark will see a high‑stakes game that could set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
The Men’s College World Series is scheduled to begin on June 12, and the winner of this regional will join other regional champions in the quest for the championship in Omaha.
