West Virginia University is set to begin a $150 million transformation of Milan Puskar Stadium with the construction of a West Tower Press Box that will add premium seating and modern amenities. The initiative is slated for completion by the start of the 2028 football season, positioning the venue for a new era of fan experience.
Premium Seating and Revenue Strategy
The new tower is designed to increase premium seating capacity while generating an estimated $6 million in annual revenue from suite and club ticket sales. University officials stress that the expansion will not drive up general admission prices, aiming to keep tickets affordable for the broader fan base.
During the construction phase, temporary structures will host game‑day activities and maintain revenue streams, and the upgraded facility is also being positioned to host large outdoor concerts in the offseason. A recent dry run featuring Jake Owen at the Gold‑Blue Spring Festival demonstrated the stadium’s potential for such events.
Athletics Director Wren Baker highlighted the project’s role in replacing aging premium seating at the nearby Hope Coliseum and underscored the importance of capital projects that deliver both financial returns and enhanced fan engagement. He was joined by senior staff Rob Alsop and April Messerly, who outlined the logistical plan.
Construction partners Barton Malow and March‑Westin are collaborating on the build, bringing expertise in large‑scale sports venues. The upgrades are expected to reinforce West Virginia’s athletic brand and attract further investment in campus facilities.
