A season of accolades for Western Michigan baseball
Three Western Michigan University baseball standouts — Turner Doran, Tanner Mally and Michael Maloney — have been recognized on the ABCA All-Region teams, highlighting a year of exceptional performance for the Broncos.
Doran’s pitching dominance
Doran, a right-handed reliever, posted a 3.06 earned run average and topped the Mid-American Conference with ten saves, a feat that has placed him on the First Team All-Region list and made him eligible for ABCA All-American consideration.
Mally’s historic hitting
At the plate, Mally has been nearly untouchable, batting .446 — the highest average for WMU since 1965. His on-base percentage sits at .554 and he is averaging 1.74 hits per game, positioning him second nationally and on track for the country’s batting title.
Maloney’s defensive impact
Maloney earned co-Defensive Player of the Year honors in the MAC and led the team with 55 runs batted in, a total that ties for seventh most in the league, underscoring his all-around contribution.
The recognitions reflect the program’s depth, with each player bringing a distinct skill set — Doran’s reliability on the mound, Mally’s offensive firepower, and Maloney’s defensive versatility — to a squad that continues to climb national rankings.
