Whitefish Baseball Team Winds Down Season at State Tournament

Rain-shortened final game caps a 16‑9 campaign

The Whitefish High School baseball squad traveled to Polson, Montana, for the State A‑B Tournament, where they opened with a 5‑3 loss to Dillon before rallying to beat Columbus 11‑1 and Frenchtown 8‑3 in elimination play.

Rain Delays Final Match

Their scheduled showdown with Billings Central was called off as rain soaked the field, leaving the Bulldogs without a chance to finish the tournament.

Despite the setback, the team finished the season with a 16‑9 record, a testament to a campaign that saw solid performances from a handful of standout players.

Logan Stewart earned the win against Columbus, limiting the opposition to a single hit over three scoreless innings, while Cullen Wallace delivered a strong relief outing against Frenchtown, pitching 6 ⅔ innings and adding a 2‑for‑4 effort with two RBIs.

Tait Orme, who started on the mound against Dillon, threw six innings, surrendering six hits and three walks, but the Bulldogs fell 5‑3.

The loss also highlighted the upcoming graduations of seniors Reed Boyer, Tait Orme, and Joaquin Gonzalez, who will move on from the program after a combined 16‑9 career.

Looking Ahead

With the seniors departing, the remaining roster will look to build on the experience, hoping to translate the tournament lessons into future success for Whitefish High School.
