WIAA Secures New Home for State Hockey Tournaments at Legacy20 Arena

Three‑year agreement moves championship events to DeForest Yards, with Madison Capitols also set to play there

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has confirmed that the annual Boys and Girls state hockey championships will be staged at the newly constructed LEGACY20 Arena located in DeForest Yards beginning with the 2027 tournament cycle.

A New Home for Wisconsin Hockey

Executive Director Stephanie Hauser said the move reflects a shared vision of delivering a world‑class experience for athletes, coaches and fans alike.

Under the agreement, the partnership with LEGACY20 Arena is locked in for three years, guaranteeing the tournaments a place on the schedule through the 2029 championship.

Construction of the arena is slated for completion this summer, and its state‑of‑the‑art ice surface is expected to meet the rigorous standards set by both the WIAA and the United States Hockey League.

The Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League will also begin playing out of the facility during the 2026‑27 season, adding a professional dimension to the venue’s schedule.

The shift not only secures a stable venue for Wisconsin’s premier high‑school hockey events but also positions DeForest Yards as a growing hub for regional sports competition.
