WIAC Teams Shine in WBCA Academic Top 25
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced its Academic Top 25 Team Award for the 2025‑26 academic year, spotlighting programs that excel both on the hardwood and in the classroom.
Within the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, two members cracked the national rankings: the University of Wisconsin‑Eau Claire secured the 22nd spot with a 3.757 cumulative GPA, while UW‑Stevens Point followed closely at 23rd with a 3.743 GPA.
Both institutions were praised for maintaining high academic standards while competing at the NCAA Division III level, a testament to the conference’s balanced emphasis on athletics and scholarship.
Conferencewide Recognition
Several other WIAC schools — UW‑Oshkosh, UW‑Stout, UW‑River Falls and UW‑Platteville — were listed among those receiving special mention for their eligibility for Top 25 consideration, underscoring the conference’s depth of academic talent.
The acknowledgment reflects a broader culture across the league where coaching staffs and athletic departments prioritize graduation rates and classroom performance, often tying institutional resources to competitive success.
