The Wichita Eagle has unveiled its 2026 All‑Metro baseball team, honoring the elite players and coaches from Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties who defined a remarkable spring season.
Selection Criteria
The team was chosen based on production, level of competition, two‑way value, postseason recognition and the player’s impact on winning, ensuring that only the most influential contributors earned the honor.
Player of the Year
Grey Sanders, a Kansas signee from Mulvane, was crowned All‑Metro Player of the Year after leading the Wildcats to a 28‑1 record and the Class 4A state championship with an 8‑0 record, a 0.15 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 48 innings.
Other Notable Performers
Gabe Adams of Kapaun Mt. Carmel struck out 54 batters while posting a 1.94 ERA on a 22‑win squad, while Drake Blasi of Maize batted .392 with 35 runs, 36 RBIs and 17 extra‑base hits. Parker Clubb from Mulvane hit .462 with five home runs and 46 RBIs, and Maddox Drumright of Collegiate posted a .494 average with 18 extra‑base hits and 37 RBIs.
Pitching Depth
Brody Lee of Trinity anchored a 19‑win season with 51 innings, a 1.37 ERA and 83 strikeouts, while K.J. McGill of Bishop Carroll fanned 71 batters in 49 ⅓ innings. Hagen Warkins from Mulvane went 7‑1 on the mound with a 2.21 ERA and 42 RBIs at the plate.
Coaching Leadership
Steve Nelson guided Mulvane to a 28‑1 record and the Class 4A state championship, showcasing the pivotal role of coaching in the region’s dominance.
Regional Significance
