A Strategic Addition for the Shockers
Wichita State head women's basketball coach Terry Nooner has finalized the 2026‑27 roster by securing the signing of Amaya Lacy, a dynamic guard who brings a blend of scoring versatility and defensive tenacity to the program.
Lacy arrives as a junior transfer from Frank Phillips College, where she honed her skills over two seasons in Borger, Texas. During her sophomore campaign she started all 29 games, averaging 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 37.7 percent from the field and 29 percent from beyond the arc.
Coach Nooner praised Lacy's all‑around impact, noting that she can score at every level of the offense and makes her presence felt on the defensive end. "She is a leader, a competitor, and someone who takes pride in defending," Nooner said, emphasizing the qualities he hopes will translate into immediate on‑court contributions.
Beyond the numbers, Lacy's reputation as a reliable scorer and a tenacious defender aligns perfectly with the Shockers' strategic vision. Her ability to influence the game on both sides of the floor is expected to bolster the team's depth and competitiveness as they prepare for the upcoming season.
