A Milestone for Wichita Basketball
A Wichita‑based basketball squad called Kansas Select 2030 has etched its name into state history by becoming the first team from the city to earn a berth in the JR EYBL Peach Jam, a tournament that draws the nation’s most coveted amateur talent.
Composed entirely of incoming freshmen from several Wichita‑area high schools, the team captured immediate attention after a flawless 4‑0 performance at the JR EYBL Open, where their closest contest was decided by a 25‑point margin.
Peach Jam Preview
The Peach Jam tournament is scheduled for July 14 through July 19 in Augusta, Georgia, and will feature a field that analysts expect to include future Division I standouts and potential NBA prospects.
For the young Kansas Select players, the event represents a chance to test themselves against the nation’s best, gain national exposure, and fuel ambitions that extend beyond high school competition.
Among the roster members are Jared Mocaby, Sam Kappelmann and Chase Newton, each of whom will continue to navigate their high school seasons while eyeing matchups that could shape their development.
