Will Ferris Elevates to Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at UAlbany
Will Ferris, a rising figure in college basketball administration, has recently been appointed Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at the University at Albany, commonly known as UAlbany. The promotion follows a series of progressive roles that have sharpened his expertise in analytics, video coordination, and player development.
In his previous capacity as a Graduate Assistant for the Great Danes, Ferris managed the team’s video infrastructure, turning raw footage into actionable insights that complemented the on‑court work of America East First Team selection Amir Lindsey and Defensive Player of the Year Okechukwu Okeke. His contributions helped weave statistical precision into the program’s tactical framework.
From Elon to Albany: A Journey Built on Scouting and Service
Before joining UAlbany, Ferris spent three years as the head student manager at Elon University in North Carolina. In that role he oversaw video scouting, coordinated summer camps for youth student‑athletes, and cultivated relationships within the Southeast grassroots basketball circuit, a network that broadened his understanding of talent identification.
Ferris earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Elon in 2025, followed by a Certificate of Graduate Study in Communication from UAlbany in May of the same year. The academic blend reflects his commitment to both the technical and relational aspects of coaching.
The move to Director of Men’s Basketball Operations positions Ferris at the nexus of strategy and execution for the Great Danes, where he will guide analytical initiatives, oversee scouting pipelines, and support the development of emerging talent. His trajectory illustrates how experience across multiple programs can translate into a cohesive leadership role.
