Will Taffe, a standout defensive back from Saint James, has committed to the United States Naval Academy's Division I football program, marking a significant milestone in his athletic career.
A Star in the Making
During his junior season the Saints finished 8‑2 and captured the Mid‑Atlantic Conference championship. Taffe recorded 50 tackles, intercepted two passes and broke up four more, earning All‑Mid‑Atlantic Conference honors and a spot on the Herald‑Mail Washington County all‑star team.
Why Navy?
The academy’s unique blend of rigorous academics and elite football attracted Taffe, who said the institution offered a clear pathway to serve his country while pursuing a top‑tier education. He highlighted the supportive environment at Saint James and the bright future Navy provides as decisive factors in his decision.
Future on the Field
Taffe will join a program that has already secured commitments from several other Division I prospects. His godfather, Chad Carter, now serves as the Saints’ defensive coordinator, adding a personal connection to the team’s upcoming season. With the guidance of his family, including his parents Chris and Gina, and mentorship from coaches such as Brian Newberry, Taffe looks forward to contributing immediately.
