The move to the 5A classification brings a higher level of competition, demanding greater mental discipline and physical resilience.
Both players have trimmed the minor errors that plagued them last year, focusing instead on consistency and execution.
Because their roster is smaller than many of their rivals, they are required to stay on the field for all four quarters, a test of endurance they are meeting with rigorous conditioning.
Royce has already attracted seven college suitors, including Coastal Carolina, Sanford and Chattanooga, while Trevon boasts nine offers such as East Carolina, Liberty, The Citadel and UNC Pembroke.
Their preparation includes daily strength sessions, sprint drills and nutrition plans designed to build the stamina needed to dominate the later stages of each game.
A Cousins' Competitive Edge
The Williamson duo says the prospect of being counted out because of size only sharpens their focus.
They plan to use the season as a platform to showcase that determination and preparation can outweigh pure physical stature.
