Wilson Unveils REVO Ball, the First Flag Football‑Specific Football, Ahead of 2028 Olympics

The new REVO ball, designed for faster, more balanced play, will debut at the Los Angeles Games and could reshape the sport worldwide.

Wilson’s REVO ball, billed as the first football built expressly for flag football, is set to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

A Design Tailored for Speed

The new ball is smaller than a standard football, features a perfectly balanced weight distribution, and is wrapped in large white stripes that improve grip. Its zero‑proof leather eliminates the need for any pre‑game preparation, allowing players to focus on execution.

Wilson spent four years refining the REVO, drawing inspiration from adaptations used in emerging sports such as beach volleyball and 3×3 basketball. The result is a ball that not only meets the unique demands of flag football but also enhances spin rate and spiral efficiency, giving quarterbacks a tighter, more predictable throw.

From Test Labs to Global Play

The REVO has already been trialed in NCAA programs and high‑school leagues across the United States, and its performance has sparked plans to transition all traditional footballs to the new model within the next one to two years. Wilson also intends to launch an NCAA‑sanctioned women’s flag football tournament in time for the 2028 Olympics.

To accelerate adoption, Wilson has appointed Ashlea Klam of the United States and Diana Flores of Mexico as Global Flag Ambassadors. Their roles involve promoting the sport and the new ball on international stages, helping to cement flag football’s rise as a mainstream competition.

With the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) confirming the REVO as the official ball for all international flag football events, the technology is poised to reshape how the sport is played worldwide, bridging the gap between recreational leagues and elite competition.
