The Wilson Warbirds, a Single-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers in the Carolina League, have turned heads this season with a franchise-record 11 walk-off victories, the most in professional baseball to date.
Their home slate sits at 30-17, just a half-game behind the league-leading Fredericksburg Nationals, and they still have 19 home games left, including a six-game showdown against the Nationals that begins Tuesday.
Power at the Plate
Six of the Warbirds' walk-off wins have come on home runs, and outfielder Jose Anderson accounts for three of those six, highlighted by a bat-flipping grand slam on June 5 that erased an 11-7 deficit against the Delmarva Shorebirds.
Anderson's heroics are part of a broader pattern of clutch performances, with the team also sharing the league lead in walk-off wins with the Chicago Cubs and the Richmond Flying Squirrels, each at ten.
After a road stretch that ends Sunday at Charleston RiverDogs, the Warbirds will return home for a series that could solidify their position in the standings and add another chapter to their growing legend.
