Spitfires Secure Young Defenceman
The Windsor Spitfires have confirmed the addition of defenceman Jesse Debruyn, a 2025 OHL Priority Selection fourth‑round pick who has already made a splash in the organization. The move comes as the club looks to bolster its blue line ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Debruyn hails from Exeter, Ontario, where he honed his game with the Huron Perth Lakers before moving on to junior A with the Komoka Kings. In 47 games for the Kings he recorded 27 points, showcasing both defensive reliability and offensive flair.
After a brief call‑up that saw him appear in six Spitfires games, Debruyn expressed excitement about staying with the club. "I’m thrilled to be part of this team and can’t wait to contribute," he said in a recent interview.
General manager Bill Bowler praised the youngster’s versatility, noting that Debruyn can adapt to multiple defensive pairings and bring a competitive edge. "His potential is evident, and we’re eager to see how he develops under our system," Bowler added.
The organization also took the opportunity to highlight the local connection, emphasizing that bringing a player from Exeter back into the fold aligns with the team’s community‑first philosophy. Fans can expect to see Debruyn in the lineup when the Spitfires open their season later this month.
