Winston Starr, a senior at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, has been crowned the 2025-26 New Mexico Gatorade Boys Soccer Player of the Year, a distinction that highlights his outstanding performance and leadership on the field.
Under Starr’s command, the Cueva Bulldogs finished the season with a 21-2 record and captured the Class 5A state championship, underscoring his ability to elevate the entire squad.
The standout midfielder contributed 15 goals and 12 assists throughout the campaign, numbers that reflect both his scoring prowess and playmaking vision.
A Milestone Achieved Early
Starr’s commitment to excellence began at a young age when he signed with the New Mexico United Academy at just 13, a move that set the stage for his rapid development and eventual collegiate prospects.
