Wisconsin’s football program is experiencing a surge in recruiting activity that could reshape its roster ahead of the 2026 season.
A Strategic Overhaul in Madison
The Badgers have secured 21 verbal commitments this offseason, with ten of those prospects hailing from Wisconsin itself, underscoring a focus on in‑state talent.
Among the newest additions is Jack Tabbert, a 6‑foot‑5, 270‑pound interior offensive lineman from Pewaukee. Tabbert originally pledged to North Dakota State but reopened his recruitment and chose Wisconsin after a sustained push from the coaching staff.
Coaches are also chasing four‑star recruit Alijah Shaw, who has taken official visits to both Wisconsin and Arkansas, signaling the program’s intent to compete nationally for top talent.
The recruiting push comes as head coach Luke Fickell oversees a rebuilding effort after the team posted a 4‑8 record in 2023, a season that included a 2‑7 mark in Big Ten play.
Fickell has emphasized adding depth along the line and diversifying the schedule to improve bowl eligibility prospects.
Looking Ahead to 2026
The team aims to contend for a bowl game in 2026 with a more balanced schedule, as outlined in the program’s long‑term plan.
