Freshman forward Brent Solomon, a fourth‑round selection of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2025 NHL draft, has been invited to the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, a pivotal evaluation event leading into the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.
A Fresh Face on the National Stage
The showcase is slated to take place from July 26 to August 1 in Windsor, Ontario, and will feature elite prospects from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden, giving national coaches a final opportunity to assess talent before the next championship cycle.
Solomon’s breakout season with the Sioux Falls Stampede saw him record 24 goals and 53 points across 54 games, a performance that helped solidify his reputation as one of the most promising American prospects heading into the draft.
Team USA will initially split its roster into Blue and White squads for two preliminary contests before consolidating for three additional games, a format designed to test depth and foster chemistry under competitive pressure.
Current Wisconsin Badgers defensemen Logan Hensler and Luke Osburn, who previously wore the Team USA jersey at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, bring valuable experience to the mix and will look to contribute to the nation’s continued success.
The United States has a storied history at the World Junior Championship, having captured gold medals in 2025, 2024 and 2021 and a bronze in 2023, underscoring the country’s consistent presence on the podium.
Adding to the storyline, Canada’s Dylan Holloway, who earned a silver medal in 2021, illustrates the high level of competition among the top hockey nations as they prepare the next generation of talent.
