A Tight Contest on the Pitch
Western Kentucky University’s men’s soccer team opened its 2025 season on August 28 with a 0‑0 draw against the Missouri Tigers, a result that underscored the defensive focus of both sides.
The match featured a total of 19 shots, with the Tigers registering seven attempts in the opening half while the Hilltoppers managed just two before the break.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Mia Riddick delivered a career‑high performance, turning away eleven attempts and making six saves that kept the Tigers at bay.
After the interval the Hilltoppers stepped up their attack, creating three clear chances on goal, though they were unable to convert any of them, leaving the contest level at the final whistle.
The Hilltoppers are scheduled to travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, on Sunday at 12 p.m. for their next test against Indiana State, aiming to build on the momentum generated in the second half.
