Western Michigan University Athletics has revealed the ticket sales plan for the much-anticipated outdoor hockey contest between the Broncos and the University of Michigan, set for January 30, 2027, at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo. The event is framed as a celebration of Western Michigan, the City of Kalamazoo, and the broader culture of college hockey, promising a unique experience for fans and the community alike.
Priority Access Framework
To honor the most dedicated supporters, a Priority Access Window system will be employed. Loyal fans, donors, and season ticket holders will receive early opportunities to select seats, with access staggered across multiple windows beginning on June 16, 2026. This approach aims to reward continued engagement while ensuring a structured rollout of ticket availability.
Bronco Athletic Fund members receive the first chance to lock in seats, with selection based on giving levels. These members must confirm their Giving Levels by June 9, 2026, to remain eligible for the early window. Membership in the Bronco Athletic Fund starts at $50, providing fans a straightforward path to contribute and gain priority access.
Current hockey and football season ticket holders who have not yet renewed for the upcoming season are urged to do so before June 8. Renewal is essential to maintain eligibility within the Priority Access process, ensuring that existing ticket holders retain their priority status.
The access schedule is designed to expand gradually. Each eligible group receives a designated date and start time to begin purchasing tickets, and once a window opens, that group can continue buying tickets through the start of the next window. As additional windows open, the pool of buyers grows while preserving access for those who have already purchased.
Public On‑Sale and Student Claims
The general public ticket sale is currently slated for July 30, 2026, subject to remaining inventory. Meanwhile, Western Michigan students will claim their tickets through the standard student ticket process, with the claim window opening on the first day of classes for the Spring 2027 semester.
Beyond the game itself, the temporary rink at Waldo Stadium will stay in place through February 7, 2027. This extended period creates opportunities for a variety of community events, including open skate sessions, family activities, and youth hockey rentals, fostering ongoing engagement with the local community.
