State Championship Recognition
During its regular session on May 21, 2026, the Woodlands Township Board of Directors took the opportunity to applaud the College Park High School boys soccer team, the Cavaliers, for capturing the program’s inaugural 6A Division II State Championship. The team secured the title in a dramatic 5‑3 penalty shootout against the Summer Creek Bulldogs, a triumph that board members said reflected months of dedication, teamwork and perseverance.
Board members Adam Lamb and Ruthanne Haut, who presided over the meeting, highlighted the cultural impact of the victory for the community, noting that the championship had united students, families and local supporters across The Woodlands.
Policy Updates for Public Spaces
In the same agenda item, the board approved amendments to Township Park Order No. 019‑09, instituting limits on sexually oriented performances and establishing a permitting process for amplified street performances, commonly known as busking. The revisions also tweak fee structures while leaving Commercial Use Fees for Waterway Square and Hughes Landing unchanged.
Separately, changes to Township Park Order No. 020‑09 adjust park user fees and related policies, aiming to balance recreational access with operational costs. The board also refined Covenant Administration fees, distinguishing base services from enhanced offerings and proposing a waiver pathway for residents displaced by natural disasters.
Mobility Hub Study Investment
A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to a $250,000 allocation for a feasibility study of a mobility hub at The Woodlands Town Center. The study will explore structured parking solutions and enhanced transit connections, with the goal of improving regional mobility while preserving the area’s aesthetic character.
The board concluded the session by unanimously adopting the Consent Agenda, which encompassed a suite of administrative reports and routine requests, signaling broad agreement on the day’s operational priorities.
