A Historic Season for WPI Athletics
Six Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) athletes from the field hockey and women's rowing programs earned spots on the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's At-Large Academic All-District Team, a recognition that highlights both scholarly excellence and competitive success.
The field hockey selections include senior midfielder Myles Lakin, senior biomedical engineering major Eve Martineau, graduate student Lauren Meinhold, and senior Leah Uglevich. Each brings a blend of rigorous academic performance and impactful play that helped the team navigate a demanding schedule.
Among them, Meinhold distinguished herself not only with a stellar GPA but also by becoming WPI's first National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American since 1994, earning Third Team All-America honors in 2025.
Rowing representatives Charlotte Bourne and Victoria Serrambana, both junior engineering majors, were celebrated for maintaining perfect academic records while earning All-NEWMAC Second Team accolades and contributing to a season that culminated in an NCAA Tournament victory.
The team's on-field achievements were underscored by a run to the NEWMAC Championship game and a decisive win in the NCAA Tournament, marking one of the most successful campaigns in recent WPI history.
University officials praised the student-athletes for embodying the institution's commitment to integrating academic rigor with athletic excellence, noting that the recognitions reflect the broader culture of achievement at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
