Celebrating a Landmark Season
WPI Athletics recently staged a multi‑platform celebration that stitched together the most memorable moments of the 2025–2026 season across its varsity programs, inviting fans to relive the highlights on social media.
The showcase opened with a commanding 12‑5 victory over Eastern Connecticut on April 23, a game in which sophomore Zachary Roethlein delivered four solid hits, sparking an offensive surge that carried the Engineers to a convincing win.
The ceremony also paid tribute to senior Jack Twarog, who received the Ray Cherenzia '73 Award for his selfless contributions as a student assistant, while ten seniors were honored for their leadership and impact on the baseball program.
Off the field, Jack Zawacki’s consistency at the plate earned him NEWMAC Player of the Week honors after he posted a .632 batting average, and reliever Brian Riley was recognized with a spot on the All‑NEWMAC Second Team following a 1.90 ERA and 22 strikeouts.
Academic Excellence Recognized
Academic excellence was another pillar of the season; five Engineers — Jonathan Lattimer, Liam Keblin, Jacob Wiberg, Shane McLaughlin, and Luke Blandino — earned places on the College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District Team, and the squad posted a program‑record 3.74 GPA, capturing the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award and leading the NEWMAC with 26 Academic All‑Conference selections.
