Despite the loss, the Raiders' pitching staff delivered solid outings. Cam Allen worked six scoreless innings, surrendering just four hits while striking out six batters, and Matthew Johnson added a clean inning that featured a strikeout of a Penguin batter. JJ Thompson closed the game by handling the final two frames, fanning three opponents.
Offensive Highlights
The offense showed flashes of firepower. Brady Shannon launched a three-run homer in the top of the eighth, while Kendal Spencer capped the scoring with a two-run double in the ninth that drove in insurance runs for the Penguins.
Earlier in the game, Braylen Blomquist contributed an RBI fielder's choice that allowed JP Peltier to score, and Cy Turner crossed the plate on an error, adding a pair of runs in the second inning.
