A New Chapter for Local Hockey Star
Carrolltown, Pennsylvania — Xavier Lieb, a hometown forward celebrated for his blend of skill and character, has officially signed with the Brantford Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League.
The move marks the culmination of a promising development path that began in the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite AAA program, where Lieb tallied 78 points in 61 games during his 15U season.
A year later, at the 16U level, he erupted for 23 goals and 44 assists, accumulating 67 points in 40 games and leading his squad to a standout performance at the US Nationals with eight points in five contests.
Transitioning to the junior ranks, Lieb spent the 2025‑26 season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, posting eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points across 52 games while contributing four points in five playoff appearances.
His academic achievements matched his on‑ice success; Lieb earned a spot on the 2025‑26 USHL All‑Academic Team, underscoring his commitment to both sport and scholarship.
Spencer Hyman, general manager of the Bulldogs, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting Lieb’s vision, work ethic, and the intangible qualities that align with the club’s culture.
Hyman added that the organization is eager to see how Lieb’s offensive instincts will translate against Ontario’s top competition, noting that the player’s reputation for reliability makes him a natural fit for the team’s long‑term plans.
Beyond the numbers, Lieb’s journey reflects a broader narrative of American prospects making their mark in Canadian junior hockey, a trend that bodes well for the cross‑border talent pipeline.
As the Bulldogs gear up for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on the Carrolltown native as he attempts to translate his collegiate promise into OHL impact, with fans and analysts alike watching his development closely.
