A Prospect on the Rise
Indiana University’s men’s basketball program has thrown its weight behind a rising star in the 2028 class, extending a scholarship offer to Xavier Young, a 6‑foot‑11 forward who has quickly become one of the most talked‑about prospects in the nation.
Young, a sophomore at Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas, has been making waves on the national circuit. His size, skill set, and work ethic have drawn attention from coaches across the country, and his recent performance at the NBPA Top‑100 camp only amplified that buzz.
During his sophomore season he averaged 6.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in just 21 minutes per game, shooting a crisp 61 % from the field. On the travel circuit with Texas Impact on the UAA Circuit, he is now posting 10.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 57 % from the floor, numbers that have cemented his status as a four‑star recruit.
The offer from Indiana joins a growing list that includes Maryland, Texas Christian University, Nebraska, Southern Methodist University, Mississippi State, Arizona State, Vanderbilt, the University of Georgia, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, UCF, Georgia Tech, Baylor, Missouri and Texas Tech. Each of those programs has recognized Young’s blend of size, shooting efficiency and defensive presence.
For the Hoosiers, the recruitment of Young represents more than just a talent boost; it signals a strategic push to secure top talent early in the class and to reinforce their front‑court depth for the coming years. As the recruitment landscape continues to evolve, Young’s decision will be closely watched by analysts and fans alike.
