A community‑driven sports hub opens in Shreveport
The YMCA of Northwest Louisiana has unveiled a $10 million baseball and softball complex after six years of planning and construction.
The venue features eight tournament‑grade fields designed to accommodate youth leagues, travel teams and regional competitions.
Funding for the project relied heavily on more than $8.5 million in donations from local businesses, civic groups and residents, underscoring a strong community commitment.
A distinctive revenue model will sustain the facility, combining advertising on field banners, field‑rental fees and concession sales, with 2D Sports and the Shreveport Little League earmarked to drive a substantial share of bookings.
Organizers project that the complex will generate at least $5 million in economic activity during its inaugural year, as out‑of‑town families spend on lodging, dining, fuel and entertainment while attending tournaments.
The opening to the public is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m., inviting families across the Shreveport‑Bossier region to experience the new venue.
Local officials say the complex could become a catalyst for tourism and youth sports development, reinforcing Shreveport’s reputation as a hub for amateur baseball and softball.
