However, a handful of players voiced objections to wearing the rainbow‑colored jerseys designated for the event, prompting the team to reconsider its approach.
Prioritizing the celebration over coercion
Rather than compel the athletes to don the apparel, the organization chose to put the Pride Night festivities first, a decision that ultimately led to the forfeiture of the scheduled game against Southern Maryland.
Despite the forfeited matchup, the night’s program continued as planned, featuring entertainment, speeches and other activities meant to highlight inclusivity.
Community support and incentives
In response to the controversy, the Revolution announced a $10,000 contribution to the Rainbow Rose Center, a local LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, and offered ticket holders a complimentary admission to a future game during the 2026 season.
The team also urged fans to attend the remaining Pride Night events and to experience the broader lineup of activities scheduled at WellSpan Park.
